Claim Your Utility Relief Grant with Eco 247 Firewood!

Managing household utility costs can sometimes be challenging, especially if you rely on non-mains energy sources such as firewood, LPG, or heating oil. The Utility Relief Grant Scheme (Non-Mains), offered by the Victorian Government, provides valuable financial support to eligible households experiencing difficulty paying their utility bills. Did you know this grant can also be applied to firewood purchases? Here’s everything you need to know about the scheme, eligibility criteria, and how to apply.

What Is the Utility Relief Grant Scheme (Non-Mains)?

The Utility Relief Grant Scheme (Non-Mains) is designed to assist low-income households and concession cardholders in Victoria who rely on non-mains energy sources. It provides a one-off payment to help cover the costs of utilities like firewood, LPG, heating oil, or other off-grid energy sources. The grant can cover up to $650 per household, providing essential financial relief when you need it most.

Who Is Eligible to Apply?

You may be eligible if you hold any of the following concession cards:

  • Pensioner Concession Card
  • Health Care Card
  • Veterans' Affairs Gold Card

However, special conditions apply for firewood:

  • Your fire must be the only source of fixed heating in your home.
  • You’ll need to submit a statutory declaration confirming this when you apply, or if you change addresses.

How Can You Apply?

Applying for the Utility Relief Grant Scheme (Non-Mains) is straightforward. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Contact Us: If you’re purchasing firewood from us, you’ll need an invoice to submit as part of your application. Simply send us an enquiry with the following details:

    • Fill out the required application form.
    • Attach your firewood invoice and other supporting documents, such as proof of concession card eligibility.
  3. Await Approval: Applications are assessed by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. If approved, the grant will be provided as a payment towards your eligible energy costs.

What Happens After Approval?

Once your application for the Utility Relief Grant Scheme (Non-Mains) is approved, the following steps take place:

  1. Payment is Processed:

    • The grant payment (up to $650) will be made directly to the supplier of your non-mains energy source—in this case, Eco 247 for your firewood purchase.
    • If the grant amount exceeds the cost of your purchase, the remaining balance may be applied to future eligible non-mains energy costs.
  2. Confirmation from Eco 247:

    • Once we receive the payment, we’ll notify you that your firewood order has been covered (partially or fully, depending on the grant amount).
    • If additional payment is required, we’ll provide you with the balance due and options to complete the transaction.
  3. Receive Your Firewood:

    • After payment confirmation, your firewood will be prepared for delivery or pickup, as per your order arrangement.
  4. Ongoing Support:

    • If you continue to face financial hardship in the future, you may reapply for assistance after 12 months (depending on eligibility).

This grant not only helps ease your financial burden but also ensures you and your household stay warm and comfortable.
