From plants to pellets | How Eco 247 cat litter is made

We believe that being eco-friendly shouldn’t mean compromising on quality. Our mission is to create products that are better for your home, your cat, and the planet — and that starts with how they’re made.

When you scoop our litter, you’re not just keeping your cat’s space clean, you’re part of a bigger effort to reduce waste and support a sustainable future.

Here’s a closer look at how our cat litter goes from upcycled plant materials to the natural, effective pellets you and your cat love.

Step 1: Mixed from Plant-Based Ingredients

Every batch starts with renewable, plant-based materials — including pea husk, and cassava, and millet.

Instead of using mined clay or silica, which are resource-intensive and non-biodegradable, we upcycle agricultural by-products that would otherwise go to waste.

  • Pea husk: A by-product of the pea harvest, rich in fibre and excellent for absorption.

  • Cassava: Made from processed tapioca flour, it’s non-toxic and creates strong natural clumps.

  • Millet: A fine, smooth grain perfect for automatic litter boxes.

These ingredients are blended with small amounts of guar gum (a natural binder), deodorant agents, and bacteriostatic compounds to enhance odour control — all food-grade and safe for pets.

Step 2: Formed, Dried & Refined

Once mixed, the materials are fed into an extrusion machine, where they’re gently compressed and shaped into smooth pellets using only heat and pressure. Don't worry, there are no glues or chemicals.

The pellets are then heat-dried to remove moisture and ensure they’re hygienic and mould-free.

After drying, they pass through a dedusting system, which removes fine powder and ensures a low-dust, mess-free experience — ideal for sensitive cats and owners alike.

This process is what makes Eco 247 litter:

  • Naturally clumping

  • Easy to scoop

  • Low in tracking

  • Safe and gentle on paws

Step 3: Packed Sustainably

Once each batch passes quality testing for clump strength, odour absorption, and dust levels, it’s packed into our eco-friendly, recyclable packaging.

For local customers, we take it one step further with our wheelie bin refill service — a zero-waste delivery model that eliminates single-use packaging.

Your litter is delivered directly to your door in a reusable 100L bin. When it’s empty, simply leave it out for refill.

Prefer smaller sized options? You can also shop our 2.3kg litter bags and 12kg litter boxes for courier delivery across Australia.

A Circular, Sustainable Future

Every step of our process is designed with sustainability in mind; from sourcing renewable ingredients to reusing packaging and minimising waste.

Even our shipping boxes are upcycled into sample boxes for our kiln-dried hardwood bricks proving that nothing goes to waste.

And through our tree planting initiative, every order helps fund the restoration of native Australian habitats.

By choosing us, you’re helping us:

  • Reduce landfill waste

  • Support reforestation projects

  • Lower delivery emissions through local route optimisation

Why It Matters

Traditional litters like clay or silica come at a high environmental cost — they’re mined, non-biodegradable, and energy-intensive to produce.

By contrast, our litter is 100% plant-based, biodegradable, and made from upcycled materials that return to nature safely after use.

It’s one small change that creates a big impact.
