You can spot a Maine Coon from a mile away thanks to their supersized, muscular build and that fabulous, fluffy "mane" around their neck! Originally bred to hunt rodents in freezing northern barns, these cats are tough on the outside but absolute softies on the inside.

Often called gentle giants, they are incredibly sweet and patient, making them fantastic playmates for kids. Because they love to run and climb, they need a home with enough room to stretch their legs.

Just be prepared for a little accidental clumsiness—they are so big they sometimes forget their own size and bump into things, but they always mean well!
