How to Set Up Your Cat’s Litter Box Efficiently

We know how important it is to keep your cat’s litter box clean and eco-friendly! Whether you’re using a manual tray or, better yet, our Stainless Steel Litter Box, we've got some easy tips to help you get the best results with Eco 247’s plant-based cat litter.

How to Use Eco 247 Cat Litter in a Manual Tray

For optimal results:

Fill to the Right Depth: Make sure the litter is filled to a minimum depth of 5cm. This ensures better clumping, easy cleaning maximum odour control, and your feline's friend comfort!

Daily Scooping: The ideal litter box cleaning frequency depends on the number of cats you have and many other factors. Scoop out any solid waste every day to keep the tray fresh and hygienic. Keep an eye out on our cleaning tips guide coming out soon! Find the recommended cleaning frequency below:

Of course, the frequency of litter box cleaning can vary significantly if you’re using an automatic litter box, depending on the model and how often your cat visits it.

HOT TIP: For optimal results, use our regular plant based cat litter with automatic litter machines that are tofu-litter friendly, and use our crushed plant based cat litter for automatic litter machines that aren't designed for tofu litter with smaller sieves.

Self-cleaning litter boxes automatically separate soiled clumps from the clean litter, depositing waste into a sealed drawer. This means you only need to empty the waste drawer when it’s full, which some models even alert you to when needed.

It’s also worth noting that certain automatic litter boxes can accommodate multiple cats, making it easier to manage litter for up to 4 cats with a single unit.

Let’s explore how often you may need to clean an automatic litter box!

Disposal:

If you're eco-conscious like us, here are a few sustainable ways to dispose of your cat’s waste:

  1. Flushing: You can flush the feces down the toilet for a zero-waste option. For clumps, flushing small amounts is generally safe, but it’s best to double-check with your local council to ensure this option is available in your area. If your cat is strictly indoors and up-to-date on vaccinations, flushing feces is typically safe.
  2. Bin Disposal: For those who prefer bin disposal, you can separate the waste:
    • Urine clumps: These can be placed in either your green or red bin.
    • Feces: Feces should be placed only in your red bin.

By following these disposal methods, you’re helping to keep waste minimal and environmentally responsible!

Compost Your Litter: Our litter is compostable! Consider adding it to your garden compost for a sustainable disposal method.
